Tables

The table is a sacred place where differences are set aside, and our common humanity is celebrated. It is a symbol of Unity.

Unity becoming reality

Our Hope

Our hope is to inspire the world with a desire to see Jesus’ prayer for unity become a visible reality. As humans we share a number of common denominators: among them the earth as our shared home, the need for food and shelter and the inevitable reality of death, and the Table represents our mutual need for sustaining our natural life. Coming together around the table affords us the opportunity to put aside the many things that separate us and encounter each other as equals. Inviting people to share a meal and listening to each other’s life journey provides an opportunity for friendships to form. As we partake of what sustains our natural life, we can speak of what sustains our spiritual life, and we are relational beings created by a relational God. Though we are different in gender, race, culture, generation, political and religious views, our deepest joys and sorrows come from our relationships. This is spiritually common to all of us just as food and water is our natural common denominator.

Setting Tables for Unity

“I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.”
John 17:21 NLT

This prayer of Jesus can be understood in one word: relationship. This prayer was offered at a table, (the last supper). It was at that table Jesus explained what is needed to sustain our eternal life. The table represents the common grace all of us must partake to sustain and nourish our natural life.
